Elopement & Micro Wedding FAQs:
We’ve got you covered — literally! 🌧️☂️
At Hitched in Paradise, we monitor the weather closely as your date approaches. If there looks to be a medium to high chance of showers around your ceremony time, we’ll begin lining up Plan B options so you can relax knowing everything is under control. This is why we are the Micro Wedding And Elopement Planning specialists.
Here’s how we handle it:
Light sprinkle? We have a stash of umbrellas on hand.
Timing flexibility: We can often adjust the start time slightly to dodge passing showers.
Bigger weather systems: We will recommend moving your ceremony to a venue that offers a Photogenic & Dry ceremony option. In some circumstances, and if it works for all vendors, we may be able to shift your ceremony forward or back a day.
Bottom line: Whether it’s golden sunshine or a little rain, we’ll make sure your ceremony is beautiful, seamless, and stress-free. ✨
Short Answer:
No — we focus solely on your Elopement or Micro Wedding Ceremony. 🌿✨
Why?
Because this is what we do best! By putting all of our energy into creating seamless, meaningful ceremonies, we can deliver the most memorable experience for our couples.
What about our wedding Reception and Accommodation?
While we don’t organise these directly, we’re more than happy to recommend trusted industry connections for your post-ceremony celebrations and accommodation needs. As our couples needs are so diverse, some just need a table for 2 and others a room to seat 40, we have created a Guide to each of our Regions.

For most couples:
As many of our couples travel from interstate, transport is something to consider when planning your elopement. Some choose to:
Hire a car at the airport (some ceremony locations are up to 30 minutes away)
Walk if staying close to the venue
Use Uber or local taxis for simple, stress-free transport
Want to arrive in style?
Even if you have a hire car, many couples love to upgrade their arrival with some groovy wedding wheels! 🚙✨ Options include:
A vintage 1964 Split Screen Kombi
A classic Rolls Royce
A bold Muscle Car
A sleek Tesla
Or a modern Mercedes Benz
The choice is yours: Whether it’s practical, stylish, or totally unique — we’ll help guide you so you can arrive relaxed and ready for your big moment in paradise. 🌿🤍
If we could control the weather, we’d be kings! 👑 The truth is, it can rain on any given day of the year, just as much as we can be blessed with golden sunshine and offshore breezes. Luckily, in this part of the world, every season brings something special. ✨
So when is the Best Time of Year Getting Married.. you might ask?
🌸 Spring
One of the most popular times to get Hitched! The native landscape is literally blooming awesome, the days are warm, and the weather is fabulous. Perfect for light, fresh styling and outfits.
☀️ Summer
Expect long days, abundant sunshine, and tropical vibes. It can get warmer and more humid, but that same humidity keeps our region lush and green. Summer storms can pop up but often move quickly.
🍂 Autumn
The perfect balance — less humidity, mild weather, and earlier sunsets (hello, golden hour portraits ✨). A calm, relaxed season that’s made for elopements and micro weddings.
❄️ Winter
Up here, “winter” means maybe a jumper at night and a doona on the bed for a week or two! Compared to the southern states’ icy winds, this is an endless summer. Historically dry, temperate, and one of the best times to celebrate outdoors.
The Stats:
The weather chart below (Byron Bay data, which also applies to the Gold & Tweed Coast) lays out the facts — but really, it’s stunning here all year round. 🌿💛
By definition:
An elopement is to run away secretly with your lover with the intention of getting married! 🌿💕
Elopements with HIP:
At Hitched in Paradise, we keep true to that intimate Elopement vibe by capping guest numbers at 10 maximum. This ensures the focus stays on you and your love story, without the stress of managing a big guest list.
But what if 10 guests isn’t enough?
That’s where our Micro Weddings come in! 🎉 These celebrations are designed for couples who want to share the moment with more family and friends while still keeping things relaxed and personal. Micro Weddings allow up to 40 guests, blending intimacy with celebration.
Bottom line:
We don’t just do elopements — we also love creating Micro Weddings for couples who want a little more space to celebrate, while still keeping things stress-free and meaningful. 🤍✨
Short Answer:
Yes — your Hitched in Paradise ceremony is a legally recognised marriage in Australia. 💍✨
How does it work?
We provide a registered marriage celebrant who will:
Guide you through all legal requirements
Lodge your Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM)
Perform your ceremony in line with Australian marriage laws
Submit all paperwork to Births, Deaths & Marriages
What do I need to do?
You’ll need to:
Complete and sign your NOIM at least one month before the ceremony
Provide proof of identity and any required supporting documents
Sign the marriage certificates on your wedding day
End Result:
All the legals are covered in our micro wedding and elopement planning services.
Once your paperwork is lodged, your marriage is legally binding – just like any traditional wedding in Australia. 🌿🤍
Short Answer:
No — we’ve got that covered for you. ✅
Here’s how it works:
In Australia, you need a minimum of 5 people at your ceremony:
The couple (2)
The celebrant (1)
Two witnesses (2)
Often, your Photographer and your Planner Tarnie step in as your official witnesses. This is all covered in our micro wedding and elopement planning packages
We totally understand that not all couples want to bring family or friends — for many, it’s either just the two of you or a full guest list of 100! 😉 Either way, your legal requirements are taken care of, these are your elopement witness requirements.
Short Answer:
Yes — couples from anywhere in the world can get Hitched in Paradise, as long as they meet the legal requirements for marriage in Australia. 🌏💍✨

The Details:
We love welcoming your fur children to our Hitched in Paradise experiences! Many public beaches, parklands, and private venues are open to dogs, and we’ll happily guide you to the best options.
Some locations, however, are a firm no to pets – particularly National Parks and dog-free beaches where regulations don’t allow them. When it comes to your pooches we are micro wedding and elopement planning experts, we have our own dog Panda, so we love having dogs along for the ride.
Bottom line:
We’ll keep you informed of the most dog-friendly locations so you can celebrate with your pooch by your side – tails wagging and hearts full. 🐶✨
